About the Artist

Stephen Klema is a sculptor, designer and design educator who has shown his work in regional and national juried exhibitions. He received his BFA from the Atlanta College of Art, and MFA from the Hartford Art School.

Fundamental to how Stephen works is in the labor of making—a process which he holds dear and is defined (not only by materials choice) but by the selection of a tool. How a tool reacts, feels and sounds, what can—and cannot—be done as it interacts with the material significantly influences the outcome of a piece. Stephen focuses on craft and detail, as well as how the piece straddles abstraction and figurative interpretation.
