WORKSHOP INSTRUCTORS

Abigail Cleveland (she/her/hers) is a Junior Art education major. Growing up in a family of all women, Abigail makes art about what it means to be a woman and surrounded by feminine energy, as well as what it means to connect with masculine energy. She’s passionate about highlighting and articulating ways that communities support one another, or don’t support one another, and often visually incorporates public transportation, vegetables and facial features to examine these themes. She works primarily in watercolor and collage, with a recent interest in incorporating fabric into her work. Abigail grew up in Florida and took two gap years before college working on farms and at elementary schools. She loves swimming, being outdoors, and taking her cats on walks.

Jillian Seversky (they/them/theirs) Jillian Seversky is currently a Junior at Appalachian State University studying Art Education and Art History. In their art practice they concentrate on 3 dimensional art such as pottery, mixed media, and found object art but also really enjoy 2D mediums such as watercolor and drawing ect. Themes that arise in Jillian’s art are the sanctity of everyday objects and experiences and where time and feeling intersect. Furthermore as an education major Jillian is passionate about accessibility to all through and within art making. They feel strongly about the role of art as an essential part of people’s lives no matter age or experience level. Jillian hopes to create a safe and welcome space here at App State and in their classroom after they graduate where people can make.
