The Turchin Center is an important resource for the community and creates unique experiences to interact with the arts. The community can engage with dynamic exhibitions, ARTtalks, workshops and tours.

Connections: Exhibition Guides

Connections: Exhibit Guides are a comprehensive visitor resource that provides insight into the exhibitions in the galleries. They can be used in conjunction with a visit to the galleries or for those who are visiting remotely, as a guide for independent study. The guides include extensive information and images of the exhibition including the artist’s biography and statement, video links and provocations. Exhibit guides are provided in an interactive pdf format located in the exhibitions section of this website. The current and archived learning guides are also available below.

For more information, please contact the education staff at the Turchin Center, or:

ARTtalks / Lunch & Learns

ARTtalks are talks led by visiting or exhibiting artists, scholars and practitioners. These talks provide deeper insight into creative practice, context for current exhibitions or contemporary issues shaping the world in which art is created, experienced and interpreted.

The Lunch and Learn Lecture Series is part of An Appalachian Summer Festival and features interesting and informative virtual programming that provides a behind-the-scenes view of the festival’s offerings in the visual arts, music, theater and dance.

Guided Gallery Tours

The Turchin Center is pleased to offer guided tours by request. Tours are led by TCVA staff and are available by appointment during open hours. Every effort will be made to accommodate requested times, based on staff schedules and availability. For more information and to reserve a tour, please fill out our Guided Gallery Tour registration form.

Rosen Self-Guided Tour

The Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition is a national juried sculpture competition. Each year, 10 contemporary American sculptures are selected from an abundance of entries and are installed in locations on the university campus. A self-guided walking tour map, a learning guide and QR codes on the signage adjacent to each sculpture provides in-depth information about the sculptures and artists who made them. The walking tour map is available at the front desk or can be found here along with the learning guide and a link to a video tour.

Energize your creative side and gain newfound techniques or polish existing skills. Often, workshops incorporate topics, techniques and mediums inspired by current exhibitions in the galleries of the Turchin Center. Advanced registration is required.
